Back in 2008, three friends stood at the edge of what used to be an old logging station. The wind was howling, snow was everywhere, but we saw something nobody else did.
We weren't hospitality experts - not even close. Marcus had just left investment banking, tired of the grind. Sophia was wrapping up her architecture degree but couldn't shake the idea of designing something real, something you could touch. And me? I'd spent fifteen years guiding tourists through these mountains, watching them fall in love with what I got to call home.
The name came later, over whiskey by a fireplace that barely worked. "Blaze" for the warmth we wanted guests to feel, "Tharvalion" from an old legend Marcus found in some dusty book about mountain spirits. Sounds fancy, but really we just thought it sounded cool.
Look, we're not gonna feed you lines about "redefining luxury" or being "world-class." That stuff's overused anyway. What we've built here is a place where you can actually breathe.
The mountains don't care about your job title or Instagram followers. They're just... there. Massive, beautiful, humbling. We wanted to create a space that honors that - somewhere between rugged and refined, where you can hike all morning and get a proper massage in the afternoon without feeling like you're in two different worlds.
We're not your typical hotel team, and that's kinda the point
Co-Founder & Operations Director
Spent a decade in finance before realizing spreadsheets weren't his thing. Marcus handles the business side but don't let that fool you - he's usually the first one up the mountain at dawn and knows every trail within fifty kilometers.
He's the guy who'll remember your name after one conversation and somehow knows exactly what you need before you ask. Former city guy turned mountain convert. Still wears suits sometimes, just never with the right shoes.
Creative Director & Chief Architect
The brains behind every angle, every window, every fireplace. Sophia designed this place to feel like it grew out of the mountain itself. She's obsessed with natural light and has strong opinions about furniture - don't get her started on generic hotel chairs.
Swedish-Canadian, which means she's got that Scandinavian minimalism thing going but isn't afraid of bold choices. Collects vintage ski posters and makes a mean glögg every winter. If something looks beautiful here, it's probably her doing.
Co-Founder & Guest Experience Lead
Born and raised in Whistler, which makes me biased but also useful. I've been guiding tourists through these mountains since I was nineteen. Started with basic trail tours, worked my way up to backcountry expeditions.
These days I'm less in the field and more making sure everyone here gets what they came for - whether that's adventure or just a quiet corner to read. Still lead the occasional hike though. Can't help myself. The mountains are kinda my whole thing.
Executive Chef
Trained in Lyon, worked in Vancouver, fell in love with mountain cuisine somewhere along the way. Antoine joined us in 2012 and basically transformed what people expect from resort food.
He's got this thing about local ingredients - won't shut up about foraged mushrooms and alpine herbs. Moody in the kitchen but in the best way. His duck confit will change your life, and yes, he knows it. Rides a motorcycle in summer, snowboards in winter.
Wellness Director
Doctor of Physical Therapy with certifications in about a dozen healing modalities we can't pronounce. Yuki brought legitimate wellness credentials to what we were doing and turned our spa from "nice" to "people book trips just for this."
Believes in the healing power of mountains as much as medicine. Quiet, thoughtful, incredibly intuitive about what bodies need. Practices what she preaches - you'll find her doing sunrise yoga on the deck when it's literally freezing outside.
Honestly, we're still figuring that out ourselves. But somewhere between the massive windows that frame the peaks, the staff who actually live here year-round, and the fact that our GM has been known to join guests for après-ski drinks... we think we're onto something. This isn't just where we work. It's where we live. And that changes everything.
Since we opened in 2010, here's what's happened

We could keep talking about ourselves, but honestly? The place speaks for itself way better than we can. The mountains, the rooms, the food, the people... it all makes more sense when you're here.
Whether you're coming for the skiing, the spa, a corporate retreat, or just to unplug for a weekend - we'll make sure it's worth the drive up.
